Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) |
 |
|
Released :
May 25, 2004 Genre : Nu
Metal Label : Roadrunner
Records
Vol. 3: (The Subliminal
Verses) is the fourth release by the Iowa-based
Slipknot and third official album. Slipknot's latest retains a lot
of the brutal growls, fast guitar and drum noise, and unorthodox
subject matter that the band has become famous for, but introduces
more melodic, pensive attributes, akin to the dramatic difference in
sound that "Bother" (by vocalist Corey Taylor's original band Stone
Sour) bore to some of Taylor's earlier work. It should be noted that
this is the band's only album to not feature much swearing, though
there is a "bitch" and "bastard" used, it is not extreme, and
therefore did not need a Parental Advisory label. The Special
Edition of the album, did, however warrant a Parental Advisory due
to songs like People = Shit that were performed live and obviously
uncensored. |

Released :
August 28, 2001 Genre :
Nu metal Label :
Roadrunner Records
Iowa is the
second album by Slipknot. The album was released on August 28, 2001
by the independent label Roadrunner Records.
The album's title is a reference to the band's home
state (the members live relatively anonymously in Des Moines, Iowa).
The cover of the album shows the head of a goat, an image the band
incorporated into their live set, on their boiler suits, and in the
video for "Left Behind", as the band felt they had been held as
scapegoats since the release of Slipknot.
The title of the first song, "(515)", is the telephone
area code for central Iowa, where Des Moines, Slipknot's hometown,
is located. *The song "I Am Hated" was featured in the 2003 video
game Amplitude and was also performed in the film Rollerball *The
song "My Plague" was remixed on the Resident Evil soundtrack.

Released :
June 29, 1999 Genre :
Rapcore, Nu Metal Label
: Roadrunner Records
Slipknot is
the official debut album by Slipknot (Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat was
their first, but was released independently). The album was released
on June 29, 1999 by Roadrunner Records. A digipak version was
released on March 7, 2000. This was followed by a "clean" version
which was left completely uncensored, and contained a note in the
booklet claiming censorship as being "the absolute fascism of
America". Frail Limb Nursery and Purity were removed as they are
based on a crime scene fictional story, and due to copyright
infringement, they had to take the songs off the album and replace
them with Me Inside. The iTunes version of the album has "Eeyore"
listed and downloadable as a separate track. The clean version was
released on March 14; the digipak was re-released on August 9.
The cover of the album simply shows the band members
in their masks and boiler suits.
In 2001 Q magazine named Slipknot as one of the 50
Heaviest Albums of All Time.
The genre of the album is often debated. Musically, it
combines elements of alternative metal with hardcore and rapcore
music. |

Released :
October 31, 1996 Genre :
Heavy Metal, Alternative Metal Label : -ismist Recordings
Mate. Feed. Kill.
Repeat. is the first album released by the American
band Slipknot. Released independently on October 31, 1996, the album
was re-released on July 13, 1997 through -ismist Recordings. The
album was a limited edition, with only 1000 copies released
according to -ismist Recordings, the distributor. The originals are
worth anywhere from $100-250, although an original copy sold on eBay
on March 23rd 2007 for $760 and is yet to be sold on Amazon.com for
$1,999. Since the success of the band's self-titled second album,
the record was distributed on the Internet through several file
sharing systems. The CDs name is usually shortened to MFKR.
In 2005, the album was supposedly reprinted and
available on Amazon.com in limited numbers. This release was
actually a bootleg; the album has never been officially
re-released. |
